An email sent by Google to the user shows that this change will be effective as of September 27. In the email, Google has advised the user to upgrade to at least Android 3.0 Honeycomb. 

This change will affect the system and application signature. But the user will be able to run Gmail, Google Search, Google Drive, YouTube and other Google services through the browser.

In their report, 9to5Google shared a screenshot of an email sent to users who will likely be affected by this change. The number of people running older versions of Android is likely to be much less. 

Google is clearly doing this to help protect user data and keep accounts secure. Starting on September 27, users running Android version 2.3.7 and earlier will receive a "username or password error" every time they try to log into any of the Google applications loaded on the phone.

These emails appear as a red flag to some of these users who are still using older software versions, urging them to update their software or switch phones.

After September 27, the report said that users of older versions of Android would get errors when trying to log into Google products and services such as Gmail, YouTube, and Maps. 

They will also get an error if they try to add or create a new Google account or do a factory reset and try to log in again. If the user changes their password or username, an error will also appear.

Android v2.3.7 users will be left with no options. No Google app will work. To use Google Apps, you will need to use an updated phone above this one.
