New faces of the Modi cabinet and those who got promotions
For the first time in the second term of the Modi government, the Council of Ministers has been expanded. In the expansion of the Council of Ministers, a total of 43 ministers have been included, of which 15 ministers have been integrated at the cabinet level and 28 ministers of State.
In a major cabinet shakeup, the prime minister swore in 15 cabinet-level ministers on Wednesday, including Sarbananda Sonowal, Narayan Rane and Jyotiraditya Scindia. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Of the cabinet ministers, 13 were sworn in in Hindi, while two ministers were sworn in in English. MP Rajya Sabha and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane were the first to be sworn in as cabinet ministers. After Rane, the former chief minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal, was sworn in.
Sonowal has also been minister of state (independent position) in the Modi government in the past. Jyotiraditya Scindia, who came from Congress to the BJP, was also sworn in as a cabinet minister. He is a deputy of the Rajya Sabha. Scindia has also been Minister of State (independent position) in the UPA government.
Tikamgarh MP Lok Sabha Virendra Kumar, Odisha Ashwini Vaishnav MP Rajya Sabha, Bihar JDU RCP Singh Leader, Pashupati Kumar Paras, Hajipur MP were sworn in as cabinet ministers.
Kiren Rijiju, RK Singh, Hardeep Singh Puri, Mansukh Mandaviya, Purushottam Rupala, G Kishan Reddy and Anurag Thakur have been appointed cabinet ministers to the ministers of state. Bhupendra Yadav, who has long been monitoring the organization's work at the BJP, has been sworn in as cabinet minister.
